Plain-language definitions of Marres terms.
Analysis File
The persistent workspace connecting a decision, context, evidence, model outputs, notes, and history.
Artefact
A structured or rendered output produced by a run and attached to an analysis.
Business State Baseline
A conservative description and conditional continuation of longitudinal operating data.
Calibration
The process of comparing recorded simulation predictions with later observations and documenting justified model adjustments.
Compiled market dataset
A validated set of comparable organisation profiles prepared for modelling.
Contestable territory
The fraction of an organisation's market position treated as moveable during a simulation turn.
Decision Console
The analyst review surface used to synthesize evidence and record a recommendation.
Deep uncertainty
A condition in which decision-makers cannot confidently agree on the correct model, probability distributions, or outcome values.
Domain
A defined dimension against which evidence or market position is evaluated, such as service, affordability, or product quality.
Marres Brief
The final analyst-reviewed synthesis of the decision and its supporting analysis.
NS Loop
A persistent, turn-based competitive simulation that records actions, responses, predictions, outcomes, and calibration.
Principal component
A mathematically derived direction of co-movement in numeric data. Its business meaning requires interpretation.
Provenance
Information identifying where an input or claim came from and how it was transformed.
Run
